Synyster Gates (lahir dengan nama Brian Elwin Haner, Jr. pada tanggal 8 Juli, 1981) adalah seorang musisi dan gitaris untuk grup musik Avenged Sevenfold.

Biografi

Brian adalah anak pertama dari tiga bersaudara. Dia mempunyai adik lelaki bernama Brent dan adik perempuan bernama McKenna. Ayahnya, Brian Elwin Haner Sr. (biasa dipanggil dengan nama Papa Gates), adalah seorang pelawak dan gitaris professional yang kali ini sedang tour dengan Jeff Dunham. Ibu tirinya, Suzy Haner, adalah seorang ahli hipnotis.

Brian mendapatkan gitar pertamanya dari nenek dan kakeknya. Salah satu lagu pertama yang ia pelajari adalah lagu Stairway to Heaven karya Led Zeppelin. Ketika Brian duduk di kelas 6, ia sudah bisa menebak chord dari sebuah lagu hanya dengan menggunakan pendengarannya. Setelah Brian diberi gitar, dia mengatakan bahwa sekolah sudah tidak ada gunanya. Nilai bagus hanya dia peroleh sampai ia duduk di kelas 4.

Brian masuk grup musik Avenged Sevenfold sebagai gitaris ketika ia berumur 18 tahun di akhir tahun 1999. Dia juga memainkan piano pada lagu "The Beast and the Harlot" dan "Sidewinder".

Zacky Vengeance

In the Avenged Sevenfold DVD "All Excess" he recalls that before Avenged Sevenfold, he was in a punk band called MPA*. The scenes Of M.P.A comes through in A7X's videos at least the style. He implies that they were not successful. He and M. Shadows (who at the time was singer for a band named Successful Failure) formed Avenged Sevenfold. He was also responsible for the creation of the acronym "A7X".^[1] He is also left-handed. He taught himself how to play the guitar when he was thirteen.

The guitar he first learned on was actually his dad's, who was right handed. He learned by watching his favorite bands and other people he knew who played and practiced as much as he could. He would also read each edition of Guitar World cover to cover, learning the tabs of the songs published in there and watching the professionals perform it until he got it right. His influences in his style are Rancid, Misfits and Bad Religion. Zacky's favorite bands also include Metallica, ELIXIR, and Guns N Roses

He has a brother named Matt Baker who is with the band The Dear & Departed. He has a sister, named Zina Baker, which is now Zina Pacheco. She is married and has two kids now, Zacky's niece and nephew.

Zacky is half-German and half-Italian.

He has a dog name Ichabod Crane Vengeance, for whom he made a Myspace page and a Facebook page.

Zacky formerly worked at a coffee shop, and while he was in high school he played baseball, stating that if he had not pursued a career in Avenged Sevenfold, he would have gone on to professionally play baseball.

Zacky has recently released a guitar model, which he, along with Schecter guitars designed.

Avenged Sevenfold adalah grup musik heavy metal yang dibentuk di Huntington Beach, California pada 1999. Personelnya terdiri atas M. Shadows (vokal), Synyster Gates (lead guitar), Zacky Vengeance (guitar), Johnny Christ (bass), dan The Reverend (drum). Serta dua mantan personelnya Dameon Ash dan Justin Sane yang telah hengkan dari grup ini.

Album pertama Avenged Sevenfold berjudul Sounding the Seventh Trumpet (2002), disusul album kedua Waking the Fallen (2003). Dalam album kedua grup ini tampil bersama Xl Rose, Kylie Minogue dan Chris Cornell. Disusul kemudian album City of Evil (2005) dan Avenged Sevenfold (2007).

Grup yang pernah mangung di Jakarta pada 7 Agustus 2007 itu, belakangan memilih jalur musik pop. Hal ini, konon setelah menuai kritik akibat banyak karyanya 'mengadopsi' effec suara yang telah hit sebelumnya. Mereka mengaku heavy metal tidak cocok bagi dirinya, dan lebih menyukai musik pop.
